Shuli Rand, of Ushpizin fame, has come out with his own album which I have seen a couple of very good reviews about. It is called "Nekudah Tova," "Good Point," and can already be ordered online. (You can listen to clips of the songs at that link.) Yasher koach to YK's Jewish Music Forum for introducing me to this information and for preliminarily reviewing the album. If anyone out there has this album, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
I don't know much about Shuli Rand besides the fact that he was a big secular movie actor in Israel after going off the derech at age 18. After a successful career, he was Chozer B'Teshuva and became a Breslover Chosid. Below is an interesting interview with him on secualr Israeli television where he explains, among other thing, how he came up with the idea for the album cover, pictured above.

The album is popular in Israel. The parts I've heard I didn't particularly like, a very gruff Israel style that doesn't appeal to me.
Shuli is a great guy, who can often be found around Yeshiva Chut Shel Chesed in Meah Shearim. He DID NOT make any money from Uzpizin beyond a basic salary, he has no rights and gets no income from ongoing sales.
The said of the cover (and inside) photo shots, "oy, I didn't realize the clothes would actually be ruined, lost a good hat there".

I hear what you're saying about the gruff style. I have Adi Ran's "Unplugged" and the motorcycle helmet album. I especially liked unplugged despite that style. Certain songs especially like "Ezeh kef lihiyot yehudi" "Saba neyiyeti Dos, v'lo omer she'ata tzarich li'chos..." are very cute. And obviously "Ata Kadosh" though that it better on the original album.
I'm curious why you emphasize that he didn't make any money except as an hourly salary from Ushpizin. What would be wrong if he did?

Misunderstood emphasis. My point was - the success of the movie was a surprise, many of those involved, actors and writers, basically worked at minimal cost or even donated time to create a "kosher movie" under the assumption that it would be lucky to break even.
The movie turning out to be a great success (within the Jewish community and even beyond), those who worked so hard and donated their time have not shared in the success. Shuli Rand, may Hashem bless him, has been in a position of needing help for Shabbos (Tomchai Shabbos, etc) for the past several years.
Hopefully this album will change that.
