What's that Husband of Yours Up to?

I wanted to share this funny story that illustrates the sometimes irrational fears of some very nice people.

My wife was talking with her friend (who, along with her husband have recently become Shomer Shabbos) about this friend's conversation with her mother about her husband. (Let's call him Naftali). The conversation between them went something like this:

Mother: Aren't you worried about Naftali?

Daughter: No, why would I be concerned?

M: Well, he doesn't come home from work until 8 O'Clock at night.

D: So, what's wrong with that?

M: Doesn't it seem a bit suspicious?

D: No, he has a lot of work to do. He has to go to the county offices, supervise the workers, go to work sites, visit the architechts...

M: Oh c'mon. Everyone leaves work long before that. He can't be meeting with architects.

D: What are you worried about? Do you think he's going to clubs? Bars? Do you think he has a girlfriend or something?

M: No! Definitely not. He would never do something like that. But maybe...

D: What? What are you worried about?

M: Well do you think maybe he's... (whispering now) going to a shiur???
